R2R riders score three victories

Ready 2 Race unveiled a big comeback as it uncorked another show of force behind its ace karters who bagged the major awards recently in the seventh leg of the 2008 Shell Helix Karting Super Series at the Carmona Circuit Philippines in Bangkal, Carmona, Cavite.

Juha Turalba, 14, marked his first victory in the combined Formula Open 125 Senior and ROK Senior classes via an impressive wire-to-wire victory over runner-up John Alvarez and third placer Javi Benitez.

It was a perfect tune-up for Turalba who will be competing today with the Philippine Team in the ROK World Cup in Lonato , Italy.

Sweeping all three races, he posted the fastest laptime of 44.261 seconds before completing the 20-lap final race in 14:42.962 or 1.434 seconds ahead of Alvarez.

Benito, who turned 14 recently, bagged his third series victory and his second at Carmona as he turned back top favorite Javi Benitez and Boomland leg champion John Alvarez in the ROK Junior Expert class in 14: 51.994.

Orduna staged his big comeback in the ROK Junior Novice class in 14:53.994 to prevail by 0.827 seconds over Andres Calma

Teammate Jennifer Tumambing ended fourth in the same class, beating a more experienced rival.

In the combined ROK Junior Expert and Novice race, Benito and Orduna quickly pulled ahead to take hold of the 1-2 spots.

Orduna even controlled the lead for a few laps. But Orduna later complained of problems on his kart as he slipped down to fourth just behind the top three Expert drivers.

Despite the problems, he hung on to his post and kept other Novice rivals behind.

Basti Escalante also shone after clinching third place in the Cadet 60 class with Aira Medrano claiming fourth place. CJ Salinas took fifth place in the Mini-ROK division.

Brian del Val had a bad day as he only wound up fourth in the Formula SL Novice class. He slipped to third overall in the title race but stays in strong contention for the crown.
