POC, PSC back Ming

-

The Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission recently reiterated its support and recognition on the leadership of Philippine Badminton Association president and former First Lady Amelita “Ming” Ramos.

“We sent a letter and got an answer from POC and PSC and both don’t recognize the election that was held so I guess it’s illegal,” said Ramos in yesterday’s PSA Forum at the Shakey’s UN Ave.

Ramos was referring to the election held last Sept. 17 by a group that elected former RP team head coach Errol Chan.

The POC denied it has sent an official representative in the election.

“The POC did not send a representative to the alleged general assembly of the PBA because the said meeting was held in direct violation of the POC Rules on the conduct of orderly NSA elections,” said POC secretary-general Steve Hontiveros.

“The election was spurious and unauthorized in the absence of the compelling evidence showing the contrary,” said PSC chair William “Butch” Ramirez, also through a letter. – Joey Villar
