Glenn Aguilar of Yellow Cab-Ducati-Access Plus Team didn’t let the big chance pass as he pulled another sweep to virtually bag the Superbikes Open plum recently in the penultimate leg of the 2008 Shell Advance Superbikes Championship Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
It was another career milestone for Aguilar, who captured the crown on his full rookie season in road racing with the big support of Yellow Cab Pizza, KTM Motorcycles, Access Plus, Oakley, Bridgestone, FERN-C, Dupont, Alpinestars, Renthal, and MS Motosuit.
“This milestone means a lot to me as it proved shifting to superbikes this year a right and timely decision. And I’m thankful that Yellow Cab Pizza and the Ducati-Access Plus Team were with me all the way in this new endeavor,” said Aguilar.
“Given a chance, I would like to achieve more record feats in superbikes, much like my motocross feats, and hopefully join prestigious superbike races abroad,” he added.
Aguilar was superb throughout aboard his Ducati 1098-cc bike, pulling a wide lead at the start of the race to turn back tough rivals Jolet Jao and Maico Buncio.
He wrapped up the 10-lap morning race in 16 minutes, 25.496 seconds or a far 6.667 seconds ahead of Buncio, who finished second.
Aguilar was even more impressive in the final race, hitting a fast laptime of 1:40.803 as he completed the sweep in 16:56.307 or 5.225 seconds ahead of Jao.
“Aguilar’s win is a big harvest for Yellow Cab Pizza. The team-up of a champion rider and a champion multi-national company proved our involvement in Philippine motorsports to be a worthy endeavor,” Yellow Cab marketing specialist Joedi Atinado.
