Juvic five shots off Thai leader

-

Juvic Pagunsan holed out with a bogey and settled for an eagle-spiked two-under 69 to trail early pacesetter Chinnarat Phadungsil of Thailand by five strokes at the start of the Selangor Masters in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia yesterday.

Pagunsan, resuming his campaign on the Asian Tour after a long break, went three under with a birdie on No. 13 but failed to rescue a par on the 18th for a 34-35 round and a share of 15th place.

He opened with a birdie in the $310,000 tournament at the par-71 Seri Selangor Golf Club layout but dropped two strokes on the par-3 No. 3 before banging in an eagle on the par-4 fifth with a birdie to boot on the next.

But he stood five strokes behind Phadungsil, who set a new course record of seven-under 64 to set the early pace.
