Nine young Filipino shooters get their first “international baptism of fire” when they compete in the first Asian Schools Shooting Championships set on July 27 to Aug. 2 in Singapore.
These are Mica Padilla, a high school junior at Assumption College and daughter of national pistol champion and NYDP (National Youth Development Program) chair Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla; Shanin Gonzales, Simon Gonzales, Carina de la Victoria, Dianne Eufemio, Irish Palma, Mark Laurence Manosca, Mark Wesley Ang and Santino Hermoso.
“The trip is a good exposure for these youngsters, who could be the future Philippine champions and international campaigners,” said Padilla, who heads the RP delegation. “They were selected for their impressive showing in two local events conducted by the shooting association and NYDP.”
Shanin and Simon Gonzales and De la Victoria represent Tagaytay City, Eufemio and Palma carry the Quezon City colors, while Manosca, Ang and Hermoso banner Taguig City, Ateneo and La Salle, respectively.
Also joining the RP squad are head coach Bartolome Teyab, pistol coach Susan Aguado and armorer Mario Dasalla.
