Yamaha riders post crucial wins in underbone series

-

Maico Buncio of Yamaha-Elf-YRS Racing and frontrunning Jaime Barcial of Castrol-Yamaha delivered crucial victories recently in the fourth leg of the 2008 San Mig Coffee Underbone King Championship series at the Carmona Circuit Philippines here.

Displaying consistency and aggressive driving, Buncio bagged  the 125-cc Open and the 125-cc San Mig Coffee Sports Production crowns of the  event sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) and sponsored by San Mig Coffee, San Miguel Corporation, Petron, Denso, Inside Racing and PagCor Sports.

He  clocked 8 minutes,  58.899 seconds or by just 0.439 seconds over Kawasaki rider Raniel Resuello. Geoffrey Aguisanda, also of Kawasaki, took third in the 125-cc Open class title

Later, Buncio prevailed over two Suzuki riders – defending champion John Lery Enriquez and third placer Dashi Watanabe in the 125-cc San Mig Coffee Sports Production division.

But Barcial stopped Buncio from clinching his third win of the day when he swept both races in the 150-Open class anew for his third win-in-a row. The win boosted his bid for the coveted 2008 San Mig Coffee Underbone King plum.

Barcial quickly broke away from the pack and kept his pace from thereon as he wrapped up the 12-lap race in 10 minutes and 1.717 seconds or just 1.282 seconds ahead of Buncio (10:02.999).

Enriquez, who finished second and fourth in the two races, ended third overall.

Top Suzuki rider Mark Doblada also pulled a sweep in the 125-cc San Mig Coffee Superstock class over Gregorio Centeno of Moto Meka and privateer John Wilfrid Arteza.

Among the other winners were Victor Laude of Tiger Motorcycle and Jeff Chan of Yamaha.

Laude also copped a sweep in the 115-cc Petron Super Stock Class, clocking 11:11.179 or a far 5.865 seconds over Yamaha’s James Barcial while Medina, another Tiger motorcycle rider, ended third overall.

Chan also dominated the 115-cc Petron Sports Production with a total time of 10.11.503 seconds in the 12-lap final race to claim victory over runner-up Yamaha’s Mark Barcial and third placer Armando Canare.
