Dominic Uy: Lights, camera, action

-

PBA analyst and former cager Dominic Uy hopes to show the same passion in car racing as he guns for another big podium finish today in the second leg of the 2008 Philippine Touring Car Championship at the Subic International Raceway.

Uy,  backed up by Mighty Filter Kings, Rayban, Nike, Valvoline and Velocity Racing, seeks to deliver another big feat in the Group 3 division, aiming at least equal or even surpass his third place feat in the kickoff leg last month.

Shifting from basketball to car racing wasn’t that tough for Dominic who got big support from his brother and long-time racer Dennis Uy. And after a year of racing, Dominic unveiled top caliber form that tagged him as one of the strong contenders in the Group 3 division.

“At first, I was just doing the hosting job of the program Slipstream TV until I got the offer from a sponsor to actually join the event as a driver. It was a big challenge but a very fulfilling experience,” said Dominic who’s hosting Slipstream TV together with UNO girl Maike Evers every Sunday, 10-10:30 a.m. on Studio 23.

In the season opener last month, Dominic has shown consistency and aggressive driving that steered him to third place on the fifth lap behind champion Doby Atillano and his runner-up sister-in-law Lory Uy of Valvoline-Velocity Motors.

“Luck was on my side then,” said Dominic. “But it was an inspiring experience that drove me to push my limits and give a strong fight for the overall Group 3 crown this season.”
