Heavy favorites Cebu and Manila clash today in a return match between Series 2 protagonists that could serve as a sneak preview of the finals in Baseball Philippines’ Series 3 at the Rizal Baseball Stadium.
The Industrial Enterprises, Inc.-backed Dolphins, who reigned supreme in Series 2, booked a second victory in a row after a no-show by the Philippine Transmarine Carriers-supported Makati Mariners, the pilot series champions.
The Harbour Centre-bankrolled Sharks, who lost the Dolphins in the Series 2 finale that went the full, three-game route, walloped the Forward Taguig Patriots, 11-1, to remain unscathed in two games and seize a piece of the lead in this tournament organized by Community Sports, Inc.
The duel, which will be aired live on DZSR 918 Sports Radio, is sponsored by Mizuno, Gatorade, Purefoods TJ Hotdogs, IEI, PTC, Harbour Centre, The Heritage Park and Welcoat Paints with the Philippine Sports Commission through chairman William “Butch” Ramirez, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, Philippine Umpires Association and DZSR Sports Radio 918 as partners. – Joey Villar
