Marquez starts training for Pacman rematch

Manny Pacquiao is enjoying Christmas with his family and trainer Freddie Roach in Boracay while Juan Manuel Marquez is pounding the roads of Mexico for their March 15 rematch in Las Vegas.

“This is such a crucial fight for me, my family, the Mexican people and all my fans everywhere,” Marquez, the reigning WBC super-featherweight champion, told Reuters in a recent interview.

Marquez, according to the report, is already doing 13 kms a day and has been reporting to the gym. He said he’s just five pounds over the 130 lb limit and will soon begin high-altitude training in Otomi.

Trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain, is lining southpaw sparring partners for Marquez, and this may include former world champion Freddie Norwood who defeated Marquez in 1999.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, is enjoying his time with wife Jinkee and their three kids in the island paradise of Boracay for the past three days. They will fly back to Manila tomorrow.

Pacquiao is having a great time in Boracay, staying at the high-end West Cove resort owned by bosom buddy Cris Aquino. He plans to begin training in LA on Jan. 15.

Pacquiao went kayaking with Jinkee the other day, and in the evening went alcohol-free-bar-hopping, drawing the attention of his fans, both foreign and local.

Yesterday, Pacquiao had his left arm tattooed with the images of his wife and kids, then went swimming in the clear, blue waters of Boracay. – Abac Cordero
