Bacolod exec named new PSC commish

Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez yesterday announced the appointment of Eric Loretizo as the newest commissioner in the government sports agency.

Loretizo, who hails from Bacolod City, comes in as a replacement for Leon Montemayor who just received his walking papers from Malacañang.

Loretizo now joins Ritchie Garcia, Ambrocio de Luna and Joey Mundo as fellow commissioners in the PSC, which is under Ramirez.

Ramirez said President Arroyo has already signed the appointment papers of Loretizo who is now in Thailand for the 24th Southeast Asian Games.

“I just received a communication from the President, through Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, regarding Mr. Loretizo’s appointment,” said Ramirez.

Ramirez also said Fr. Vicente Uy has been named the new executive director of the PSC, replacing Cesar Pradas, a career officer of the sports agency.

The PSC chairman was scheduled to fly back to Manila from Thailand where he spent a few days with the RP athletes.

Loretizo, who was part of the Bacolod SEA Games Organizing Committee in 2005, is formerly with La Tondeña’s corporate communications office in the Visayas and Mindanao.
