University of Santo Tomas dominated Letran with a superb all-around game to roll to an easy 25-13, 25-14, 25-13 victory and firm up its bid in the Shakey’s V-League second conference at The Arena in San Juan yesterday.
Maria Angeli Tabaquero delivered all her 12 points on attacks while Venus Bernal came away with 11 of her own for another 12-point output for the Tigresses, who booked their third win in four starts for second place.
Guest player Suzanne Roces also churned out an 11-point game but let the UST mainstays control the contest with the power game and superb court coverage.
The setback was Letran’s fourth straight with the Lady Knights needing to sweep their next three games to stay in the hunt for a semifinal berth in the league sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Sports Vision.
Guest player Marinel Carolino struggled with only one point for Letran, which failed to match UST’s early attack and spent the one-hour contest trying to neutralize the Tigresses’ power to no avail.
