La Salle battles UE; FEU vs MIT in semis

It will be De La Salle vs University of the East and Far Eastern vs Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) in the semifinals of the 2007 Nike Summer League basketball tournament.

La Salle outclassed Feati, 101-85, while UE demolished San Sebastian College, 101-79, to arrange semifinal duels in this prestigious tournament organized by Nike, Gatorade, CDO Holiday Cheese Hotdog, Aqua Soft and ABS-CBN.

La Salle and UE will clash on semifinals at 3 p.m. after FEU- Mapua contest at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The matches will be televised live via Studio 23 courtesy of ABS-CBN.

Last Wednesday Mapua edged Letran, 87-79, while FEU crushed Adamson, 92-71, to clinch the first two spots in the semifinals.

The Archers of coach Franz Pumaren leaned on Rico Maierhofer, Jayvee Casio and rookie Marco Batricevic in nipping the Sea Hawks.  Maierhofer, a 6-4 Fil-Austrian find from Cagayan de Oro, scattered 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Casio contributed 14 points while Batricevic a 6-6 Yugoslav recruit, added 15 points for the Arhers.
