April 17, 2007 | 12:00am
SAN ANTONIO, Texas. The long wait for the weighing of the Blazing Glory has ended. Media reporters from all over flew in to San Antonio, Texas just to see the weighing on the scale of their favorite boxing champs. Newstar Philippines and Pinoy Chronicle were (of course) were there at the Alamodome since Top Rank, Inc. invited Don Lino Celle of WRMN Radio Pinoy USA, of which the two newspapers who just made alliance with the WRMN Radio Pinoy USA recently were the ones who flew in to San Antonio, Texas.
The first one to weigh the scale is the Pacman himself, Manny Pacquiao of which he weighs an exact pounds of 128 and three quarters (28.75). Then came Jorge Solis of Guadalajara, Mexico. Pacquiao did not leave the stage and he wants to make sure that the scale for Solis is not over. Unfortunately, Solis was overweight and he has to step out the stage to lose some pounds. After 4 attempts, the required weight was met. He weighs 130 lbs (exact).
Attendees inside the Alamodome were all excited about it because they want to see the Main Event Fight of the Blazing Glory, the 12 Rounds WBC Inernational Super Featherweight Title. And then came the chosing of the gloves. And it was Buboy Fernandez, the childhood friend of Manny Pacquiao, who chose the gloves for him.
Julio Cesar Chavez surprised the attendees and was called to the stage for picture opportunity.
Other boxers who step on the scale are: Bernabe Concepcion of the Philippines vs. Benjamin Flores of Houston, Texas (10 Rounds - super Featherweight); Tomas Barrientes of Weslaco, Texas vs. Victor Ortiz of Oxnard, California (8 Rounds - Super Lightweight); Jeremy Valderz of Lubbock , Texas vs. Joey Rios of San Antonio, Texas (4 Rounds - Banmtamweight); Anthony Shuler of Indianapolis, Indiana vs. Julio Cesar Chavez, jr. of Culiacan, Mexico (10 Rounds - Welterweight); Jorge Arce of Los Mochis, mexico vs. Christian Mijares of Gomez Palacios, Mexico (12 Rounds - WBC Super Flyweight Wordl Championship; Edgar Sosa of Mexico City, Mexico vs. Brian Viloria of Wiapahu, Hawaii, and many more.
