Fresh from his triumph in the World 8-ball Pool Championship, Ronnie Alcano braces for the Japan Open slated this week in Tokyo where he will be trying to add the 9-ball title to his growing list of international victories.
Alcano arrived yesterday from Dubai, UAE where he beat buddy Dennis Orcollo for the crown worth P1.2 million.
"I’ll save the money in the bank," said the soft-spoken cue artist, who also won $100,000 when he beat German ace Ralf Souquet in the final of the World 9-ball Pool Championship last November.
Meanwhile, Alcano said he is also set to receive a Toyota Innova car today, courtesy of Purefoods.
In the Japan Open, Alcano is again expected to run into a slew of top Filipino players, including defending champion Antonio Lining, who beat compatriot Don Don Razalan in the final of last year’s championship. – Rudy Santos
