The Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund) will stage "Pakners," a 9-ball celebrity billiards tournament featuring reigning World Cup champions Efren "Bata" Reyes and Francisco "Django" Bustamante on Jan. 24 at the Teatrino in Prominade, Greenhills, San Juan.
Celebrities both from show business and politics will test their pool skills and talent against Reyes, Bustamante and national womens team mainstays Rubilen Amit and Mary Anne Basa in a fund-raising tournament staged to raise funds for the thousands of marginalized members of the group that was founded by former President Joseph Estrada.
"Everyone is excited to play Bata and Django," said Mowelfund board member Boots Anson Roa in Tuesday nights media launch at the Black Betty Restaurant at the Greenhills Shopping Center.
The tournament title came from the only movie Reyes did together with the late action king Fernando Poe, Jr.
"This ones for FPJ, a good friend of mine," said Reyes, known worldwide as the Magician, in Filipino. - Joey Villar
