Pacman fans fly in from Canada

-
LAS VEGAS — In different batches, Filipinos from different, faraway places are coming in either by car, by bus or by plane just to get a chance to see Manny Pacquiao fight in the flesh.

But none could be bigger than those coming in from Canada.

According to Alex Ramos, who works for a Canadian bus manufacturer, he’s expecting a group of 80 Filipinos to arrive from Canada Thursday.

He said each of these Filipinos spent $1,800 (P90,000) each for a package tour that includes round-trip plane tickets, hotel accommodation and tickets to the fight.

Ramos said he also expects some friends to come from Florida and Los Angeles. He said it would be like a big reunion for him and some friends.

Ramos spent more than a thousand dollars just to bring his son to Vegas for Pacquiao’s coming fight against Erik Morales at the Thomas and Mack Center.

They came in by plane, and bought tickets worth $300 each.

But he’s not part of the package tour like the rest of his friends from Canada.

"I saved a lot by not joining the tour and I got better seats than they do. And besides, I know my way around Vegas," he said. — Abac Cordero
