Ace Bulldogs join H Centre in PBL Cup

-
Harbour Centre, which topped the season-opening conference early this year, has tied up with National University with key Bulldogs Edwin Asoro and Jonathan Fernandez expected to lead the bid of the Port Masters in the PBL Silver Cup unfolding next month.

Team owner Mikee Romero said Asoro and Fernandez’s entry will somehow boost Harbour Centre’s roster following the departure of LA Tenorio, Joseph Yeo, Rob Reyes and Rico Maierhofer, who powered the Port Masters’ to victory over the Toyota Otis Sparks in the last PBL tournament.

Tenorio and Yeo are already in the pros while Reyes left for the United States after his PBA application was denied due to documentation problems. Maierhofer, for his part, has begged off to concentrate on his stint with the La Salle Archers.

"We’re happy with the partnership, we’re excited to have these players (Asoro and Fernandez), who I think are two of the best in the UAAP," Romero told The STAR yesterday.

The Port Masters also now own the rights on the members of the NU squad, including promising big man Joseph Lingao-Lingao, should they decide to play in the PBL in the future.

Romero said he would also tap NU mentor Manny Dandan next season to help head coach Jorge Gallent. — Joey Villar
