Over 6,000 students vie in Milo Little Olympics

-
More than 6,000 young athletes from across Metro Manila are taking part in the Manila leg of this year’s Milo Little Olympics, which is being held at the Marikina Sports Park in Marikina City.

On hand to welcome the participants and guests during the opening ceremony was Marikina City Mayor Ma. Lourdes Fernando, who encouraged the participants to give their best in whatever they do. She also expressed hope and optimism that the country’s future sports champions will continue to come from the Milo Little Olympics.

Mayor Fernando was joined by Nestlé AVP and Milo consumer marketing manager Michelle Calo-Alvarillo, Milo brand champion Robby Afzelius, Milo Little Olympics Manila organizer Giovanni Mamawal and Milo Little Olympics meet director Robert Milton Calo.

"We at Milo are proud that we remain true to our mission of being an effective partner in molding future sports champions with each edition of the Milo Little Olympics. I exhort all of the participants to enjoy every moment, to interact with their peers and imbibe character-forming values in their quest to become true champions," said Calo-Alvarillo.

As many as 200 schools are being represented in this annual event for elementary and high school students. Sports on tap are 11 exciting sports disciplines — athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball, which will be held today and on Sept. 9 and 10.
