The Philippine Sports Commission will decide today whether or not it would grant the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Associations request for P1 million assistance intended for the National Open Invitational Championships next month.
"Yes, its going to be discussed," said Guillermo Iroy, executive director of the Philippine Sports Commission.
Iroy stressed that the PSC has a standing "no liquidation, no money" policy to delinquent NSAs (national sports associations), including PATAFA, which is yet to liquidate advances amounting to close to P1 million.
If the PSC board will stick to this policy, PATAFA will have to find other ways to stage the annual meet slated May 4-7 at the Rizal Sports Complex.
Or, it might be forced to postpone the event, which will be participated in by local and foreign competitors.
"Ive heard the PSC will meet tomorrow, Ill talk only after that," PATAFA chief Go Teng Kok told The STAR.
Go said they had already liquidated P2 million of the P2.9 million funds. Joey Villar
