2 more bronzes for RP in World muaythai

-
The Philippine muaythai team capped its impressive performance in the third World Muaythai Championship when it captured two more bronze medals at the close of the event in Bangkok, Thailand recently.

Emmanuel Sabrine, mainstay of the World Muaythai Federation Philippines (WMF-Phils) and Motolite-Pagcor muaythai squad, shared third place honors with Russian Bayokov Vladimir in the pinweight division with local bet Amon Chuanchom bagging the gold medal over Uzbek’s Aziz Eshniyazov.

SEA Games gold medalist Roland Claro of Muay Association of the Philippines (MAP) also took the bronze with Australian Aaron Marshall in the flyweight category ruled by another Thai bet, Nutthapron Aiyarakom. Abduvakhid Talipov settled for another silver medal for Uzbekistan.

Sabrine, together with wushu SEA Games gold medalist in Myanmar George Lusadan and Jessica Oyang, the 2003-2005 flyweight muaythai national champion and 2003 muaythai bronze medalist in Thailand Queen’s Cup, is a member of the team that won the gold in the aerobics muaythai category earlier.

Lebanon placed second for silver while Thailand wound up with the bronze medal.

Earlier, the RP muaythai team also won the bronze medal with Iran in the wai kru and muayboran category ruled by Germany with Kuwait settling for silver.

The Philippine wai kru and muayboran team is composed of Billy Alumno and Sonny Sumales from the MAP.

The Philippines thus closed out with one gold and three bronze medals in the event which drew close to 50 countries and more than 500 muaythai boxers.

The WMF-Phils Motolite-Pagcor national muaythai team, led by Brico Santig, and the MAP national muaythai team, headed by Roberto Valdez, sent five players each in the World Muaythai Federation (WMF) international championship in Bangkok and Patumthanee, Thailand.
