Probers see inside job in PSC robbery case

The National Bureau of Investigation is now looking into the possibility that the robbery that took place at the Philippine Sports Commission over the weekend was an inside job.

PSC executive director Guillermo Iroy, who was tasked by chair William "Butch" Ramirez to help investigate the case, said the NBI has already invited several PSC employees and security personnel for questioning.

"We expect them to be back anytime this week," said Iroy, referring to the NBI Special Action Unit headed by Dir. Vicente de Guzman III.

Among the PSC staff to be interrogated are five personnel from the information service department and seven security guards who alternated during the 10 p.m.-6 a.m. shift when the break-in occurred.

Witnesses said they saw the guards on duty asleep at the time of the incident, according to reports.

Iroy said he expects the NBI to come up with an assessment within the week as to what the motives of the suspects were. – Joey Villar
