Chavit puts in bet, says Pinoy champ sure winner

-
LAS VEGAS–Luis "Chavit" Singson, the swanky former governor of Ilocos Sur, has issued a fearless forecast for Saturday’s bout between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales.

"It’s going to be Manny Pacquiao by knockout," said the former government official who’s also a regular visitor in this place known as the gambling capital of the world.

"I have this very strong feeling that Manny will win this fight. He looks more relaxed, happier and more energetic," Singson told The STAR in a short interview.

Singson arrived here in Vegas a couple of days ago. He showed up during Friday’s official weigh-in at Wynn Las Vegas, the newest and the hottest place in town.

He admitted placing his money on Pacquiao, who remained the betting favorite barely 24 hours before the fight. The odds were dead even until Thursday evening.

"We were not able to bet on Manny the last time because he was the overwhelming favorite (doblado).

Now we’re on it," he said.

According to sportsbook.com, one of the leading on-line betting stations here in the US, Pacquiao is a -125 favorite, meaning you have to shell out $125 to win $100.

Morales was at +105 where a $100 bet wins $105. The odds, according to Singson, might even grow in favor of Pacquiao until the gates close.

"Basta kami nakapusta na. Huwag na lang natin sabihin kung magkano,"
Singson added. — Abac Cordero
