Fil-American Denise Dy opened the tennis season on a bright note when she qualified in three Australian Summer Juniors Circuit tournaments, including the Australian Open Juniors Championship in Melbourne, last weekend.
The tournament, a Grade A championship by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and a side event of the Australian Open set Jan. 23-29, will cap her three-tournament stint in Australia.
The 15-year-old Dy, a member of the bronze medal-winning RP team in the last Southeast Asian Games, will start her Australian campaign in the Loy Yang Power Traralgon International A, an ITF Grade 1 tournament, in Victoria slated Jan. 6-11.
Dy, ranked No. 93 in the world by the ITF, will also see action in the Optus Nottinghill International, another Grade I event, also in Victoria from Jan. 15 to 21.
