Blu Girls stay in hunt

The Philippines fell in a 2-3 ambush by the erstwhile winless Thailand team and had to nip Singapore, 2-1, later on to stay in the hunt for the gold medal in the 23rd SEA Games womens softball competition at the Rosario Sports Complex yesterday.
Despite splitting their crucial double-header yesterday, the Blu Girls need only to beat Indonesia or lose by no more than five runs to earn the gold.
The topnotcher after two rounds of play in womens softball that had only four teams automatically wins the title. In case of a tie, the quotient system will be used to break the deadlock.
The Blu Boys go for a sweep in the mens event versus the Indonesian side at 2 p.m. today.
