Tolentino heads RP campaign in rowing

Undaunted by a slew of leading rowers in the region, the RP team hopes to surpass its showing in the Vietnam Games as four of the nine events scheduled for the 23rd Southeast Asian Games start today at the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City.
National team coach Edgardo Maerina expects to win two gold medals through Benjamin Tolentino and Jose Rodriguez, who enjoy vast experience in the regional meet, having competed in five SEA Games.
The two will compete in todays in the mens coxless pair event while Tolentino, an Sydney Olympic veteran, will also see action in the mens single lightweight scull.
Nida Cordova will vie in the womens single scull while the pair of Clothelde Nillas and Jonnalyn Petrita will compete in the lightweight double scull. Brian Borleo/Contributor
