Jenny tries to keep place in LPGA top 30

Jennifer Rosales starts her bid to keep her spot in the top 30 in the LPGA money ranking and assure her stint in the rich ADT Championship in November as she competes in The Office Depot Championship beginning Friday (Saturday in Manila) at the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

After a high of No. 1 when she won the SBS Open in Hawaii, the opening leg of the 2005 LPGA Tour, Rosales slid down the money list with so-so performances, her campaign stymied by a recurring wrist injury that forced her to withdraw from at least three tournaments, including the British Open. She’s now in 29th place with earnings of $367,339, barely a rung higher than Jill McGill, who has $357,101 in winnings.

Five other players lay just within, including Karine Icher, Sophie Gustafson, Laura Diaz, Stacy Prammanasudh and Leta Lindley, thus making the next four tournaments before the ADT Championship crucial for Rosales.

"She really wanted to keep her spot in the top 30 and play in the ADT Championship that’s why she’s working very hard to bring back her old game and regain her confidence," said Rosales’ swing coach Bong Lopez.

With her injury healed, Lopez said it would be just a matter of time before Rosales, a two-time LPGA Tour winner, could get back into the groove and he expects a solid campaign for his ward this weekend where she will be pitted against the world’s best players, including No. 1 Annika Sorenstam, in the 54-hole tournament.
