SINGAPORE Twice LPGA Tour winner Jennifer Rosales from the Philippines has been added to the Asian squad for Decembers Lexus Cup in Singapore, which pits a global selection against the best golfers in region in a Ryder Cup-style format.
Solheim Cup members Catriona Matthew and Karen Stupples were also announced to the Internationals team for the Dec. 9-11 event at the Tanah Merah Golf and Country Club here.
"Because youve got most of the top players playing in both teams ... We hope that its going to be as big as the Presidents Cup," said Rosales, referring to the ongoing Presidents Cup for men in Virginia.
"I think this is the first year that everybody is excited to play, especially for Asians, because we never get a chance to play in the Solheim Cup. This is our chance to prove that there are a lot of Asian talents out there, ready to play as a team," she said in a statement released by organizers.
Rosales won last years Chick Fil-A championship and the 2005 season opener the SBS Open.
Matthew and Stupples, both from Britain, were members of European side which lost to the United States at the recent Solheim Cup.
