Paras, Magsanoc in Coach E

School students and parents are assured of quality and personalized training as the Coach E Basketball School revealed a capable trainors’ roster that includes former University of the Philippine (UP) Maroons and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) greats Benjie Paras and Ronnie Magsanoc.

Paras and Magsanoc, who composed the feared Mutt and Jeff combination in the PBA when they suited for Shell, are among those who will teach kids in the sessions set to start July 20 in two venues. They will be joined by former Shell assistant coaches Joey Guanio and Jigs Mendoza, Alvin Castro, La Salle women’s head coach Mon Jose, Tyron Limon, Djalma Arnedo, Derick Hubalde, Kim Gandarosa, Monch Gavierres, Roy Moralde, Dominic Uy and sports psychologist Tedi Villasor, among others in the school founded by PBA champion coach Eric Altamirano.

International Basketball Academy (IBA) president Xavy Nunag advised parents to enroll their kids early to get reduced rates brought about by the entry of sponsors like Burlington, Accel, Granny Goose and Proline (Spalding).

An upgraded curriculum includes team concept aside from fundamentals, shot training and position specific aspects of the game. The one-trainer-to-four- students ratio is for thorough and effective instruction.

"Our trainers give the utmost attention to each student, monitor their progress as they learn their skills and make sure they learn them by heart before they move on," said Nunag, a former UP Maroon, who added each student will undergo a total of 16 sessions or 32 hours of training time spread for three months until Sept. 11.

Schedules for both Modules 1 and 2 are on Wednesdays at The Zone in Makati (5-7 p.m.) and Fridays at the Club 650 in Libis (5-7 p.m.). Saturday schedules are from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Club 650 in Libis.

Players receive a certificate of completion, report card and a VCD of the module they attended.
