UAAP ladies’ caging, volleystart

Women’s basketball and volleyball in UAAP Season 68 get going today at the Adamson gym on San Marcelino and at the University of the Philippines-Diliman gym in Diliman.

Women’s basketball pits last year’s runner-up Ateneo against University of the East in the main game at 11:30 a.m. UP goes up against FEU at 8 a.m. and La Salle faces UST at 9:45 a.m. Defending champion Adamson drew a bye.

Volleyball also kicks off at the State U gym with men’s games pitting Adamson against NU at 8:30 a.m., UP against UST at 9:30, UE against Ateneo at 1 p.m. and defending champion FEU against De La Salle at 2.

In women’s volleyball, it will be UP vs NU at 8:30, Ateneo vs Adamson at 9:30, FEU vs UST at 1 and reigning titlist De La Salle vs UE at 2. At 12 noon will be a simple opening ceremony.

The order of finish in women’s basketball last season was Adamson first, followed by Ateneo, De La Salle, UP, FEU, UST and UE.

In men’s volleyball, it was FEU first, UP second, followed by DLSU, UST, Adamson, UE, NU and Ateneo. DLSU was tops in women’s volleyball in Season 67, followed by UST, UE, FEU, Adamson, UP, Ateneo and NU.

Chess tentatively starts August 6 at the UE Briefing Room in Manila. Swimming and table tennis also in Season 68 will be played in September.
