Cities, LGUs to sign up for SEAG hosting

- Abac Cordero -
A memorandum of understanding between the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee and representatives of the various towns and cities or government and private facilities hosting the different sports during the biennial event will be signed today.

Roberto Pagdanganan, Philsoc chairman, will preside over the signing at the Dragon Gate Restaurant along Roxas Blvd. Sports officials led by Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez and Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Robert Aventajado will also grace the affair.

A total of 19 LGUs (local government units) will be involved in the country’s hosting of the SEA Games on Nov. 27-Dec. 5. Under these LGUs are the private or government-owned sports venues or even schools and universities where 41 disciplines offering a total of 411 gold medals will be disputed.

Competition will also be held in southern provinces like Bacolod and Cebu which are both operating on policy procedures earlier laid down by Philsoc. Bacolod and Cebu have their own sports councils that are dealing directly with Philsoc.

Pagdanganan said LGUs that will be represented in today’s signing of the MOU are Quezon City, Antipolo City, Makati City, Pasig City, Parañaque City, Pasay City, Tagaytay City and Manila.

Also signing the MOU are representatives of the PSC and Philsports. Trace Computer College in Los Baños, Laguna, Emilio Aguinaldo College in Manila, Ynares Sports Complex, Ateneo de Manila, Pearl Bowling Center, GSIS, MWSS and the Amoranto Velodrome.
