Shakey’s unveils third V-League on May 14

Shakey’s renews its commitment to help develop women’s volleyball and at the same time provide the country’s top netters a venue where they could further hone their talent and skills as it stages the third Shakey’s V-League on May 14 at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

The organizing Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. (SVMGI), which turned the once dormant game into a lively sport that had the fans clamoring for more after two conferences, has decided to go back to its original six-team roster, confident of sustaining the gains made by the sport in terms of popularity and acceptance in so short a time.

Arch rivals University of Santo Tomas and La Salle, champions of the first two editions of the league sponsored by leading pizza parlor Shakey’s, head the cast that includes Lyceum, San Sebastian College, Far Eastern University and another school with a rich championship tradition in the sporting world.

"We always believe in SVMGI’s vision, which is to push the sport further and bring back the glory days of women‚s volleyball," said Vic Gregorio, Shakey’s Pizza general manager. "Besides, the Shakey’s V-League also becomes a breeding ground of (volleybally) talents."

To ensure a power-packed, highly-charged conference and make it more exciting, all teams will go through a gruelling double-round eliminations and another double-round semifinals leading to the championship round, a best-of-three affair.
