Manny Pacquiaos millions of fans will soon see their idol back in action. Only this time, it will be on the silver screen.
While his handlers are negotiating for his next bout, the Filipino boxing hero who recently lost a gallant fight to Mexicos Erik Morales is all set to do another movie.
Although the details on the upcoming movie are still unavailable, the 26-year-old Pacquiao has confirmed that he is indeed embarking on another project.
Like his previous fight held at the fabulous MGM Grand in Las Vegas and viewed by boxing fans from around the world, this movie is bound to be a blockbuster.
"Sayang din naman yung panahon na nagpapahinga ako. At kikita din ako doon so sayang naman," he said.
Pacquiaos manager, American Shelly Finkel, is arranging a comeback fight for his ward this summer against an opponent who has yet to be named. Reports have it that another Mexican is being lined up.
Then by the end of the year, Pacquiao might figure in another big event, probably against WBC and WBA super-featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera or Morales.
Pacquiao is not new to acting, having done a couple of action movies, including one where he co-starred with Presidential son and personal friend Mikee Arroyo.
Pacquiao has also appeared in a handful TV shows, mostly sitcoms and noontime shows and even late-night talk shows. Facing the camera, therefore, is something hes getting used to.
His wife Jinkee, with whom he has two sons who were born on the same year, told The STAR yesterday that the script for the upcoming movie has been prepared.
"But we havent seen a copy of it yet," said Jinkee.
Asked who will appear with Pacquiao in the movie or whom his leading lady is, Jinkee said, "Wala pa eh."
Pacquiao is set to leave for the US on Tuesday to tie up some loose ends with the US Internal Revenue Service. It was reported recently that Pacquiao has been remiss in paying his taxes for his previous fights in the US.
"No comment muna ako diyan," said Pacquiao regarding the sensitive issue. Hell be back in a week or two.
Pacquiao made millions in his recent fight but is not expected to make as much in his coming movie. For him, its just a perfect opportunity to reach out to his fans.
