UST, DLSU clash in Shakeys V-League
January 9, 2005 | 12:00am
Archrivals University of Santo Tomas and La Salle clash today with so much pride and honor at stake, including the lead in the Shakeys V-League second conference at the Rizal Coliseum.
The UST spikers try to open their bid in the second round of the elims with another victory over the very same team they beat in the opening day on their way to sweeping the first round phase of this tournament sponsored by Shakeys Pizza.
With Roxanne Pimentel on the attack mode, UST hacked out a thrilling 25-21, 29-31, 25-21, 25-19 victory over La Salle last November, then the Tigresses, who trounced the Lady Archers in the final of the inaugural Shakeys V-League last year, racked up five more wins for that stirring 6-0 mark.
That setback, however, proved to be a motivation for La Salle, which won its next five games in varying fashions, a momentum the Lady Archers hope to sustain in their grudge match with their tormentors.
In a duel of struggling teams, Lyceum and Far Eastern U collide at 1 p.m., with the former eyeing its third win in seven games in a bid to dislodge idle Letran (2-4) at fourth. The Lady Tams are hardpressed to improve their 1-5 card in the event co-presented by Dunkin Donuts, HBC Home of Beauty Exclusives, Smart and PLDT.<
