Cover Girl added the Lakambini Stakes crown to her growing list of victories as the Triple Crown leg winner dominated the event yesterday in a record-equalling run at the Santa Ana Park.
With ace jockey Jonathan Hernandez aboard, Cover Girl stalked the quick-stepping Moab in the early going then swept past the fast-fading leader with hardly a whip before galloping home to a three-length victory.
The outstanding favorite clocked 1:53 over the 1,800-meter voyage, matching Material Makers effort in the Mitra Cup. She had fraction times of 13-23-25-24-28.
The win netted a guaranteed gross prize of P450,000 for the C & H Enterprises, owner of the prized filly who ruled the first leg of this years Triple Crown but lost the last two to Empire King.
