ATHENS (Via Globe Telecom) He will never stop until he gets a good shot at the Olympic gold.
Thus said ace Filipino shooter Jethro Dionisio, who vowed to continue competing in trap shooting after he failed to dish out a decent finish in the 28th Olympic Games here Sunday.
Dionisio, a former world practical shooting champion, fired 24 and 18 points in his last two 25 targets and ended his trap qualifying event at 32nd place. He tallied 24, 20 and 23 in 75 targets Saturday.
"Kulang pa sa exposure," said Dionisio, whose best score for 125 targets is 117. "I have to practice harder and compete in more international events."
He added that his paltry 20-point output in Saturdays second round practically did him in.
"Masakit talaga yun. It was a killer. Malakas ang hangin kaya lahat sumasayaw, pati release ng target," said Dionisio.
However, coach Ramon Jose Corral said Dionisio has nothing to be ashamed of. "He gave his best. Bata pa naman siya and he still has a bright future.
"I will stick it out in this event," said Dionisio. "Playing with the best shooters in the world was a good experience for me." Lito A. Tacujan
