Under the superb handling of jockey Jeffril Zarate, Speed Majesty outclassed outstanding favorite Real Spicy to top the first leg of the Juvenile Colts series.
Speed Majesty, who only sold P246,971 as against Real Spicys P1 million-draw, turned in a 1:30 clocking on a bad track. He had quartertimes of 14-23-24-28 over 1,450 meters.
The victory was worth P600,000 for the Yutadco stable, while Real Spicy settled for P225,000. The third and last horse in the field, Golden Fantasy, took home P125,000.
On the other hand, slight favorite Lamborghini topped the kick off leg of the Juvenile Fillies series, thwarting Undisputeds bid at the top of the stretch and clinching the top P600,000 purse for Hermie Esguerra.
Jockey Pat Dilema atoned for his earlier loss atop Real Spicy by piloting Lamborghini to a three-length victory in 1:31. Lamborghini had quartertimes of 15-23-24-28 over 1,450 meters. Ramon Romualdez
