RP faces Germany in duel of cellar dwellers

-
The RP-Cebuana Lhuillier training team resumes their campaign against Germany today in a battle of cellar dwellers in the 26th William Jones Cup tournament.

So far it hasn’t been a smooth journey for these two teams after three days of competition. The RP dribblers absorbed a 114-83 shellacking at the hands of host team Chinese Taipei-White on opening day, and got clobbered by Japan’s under-24 national team, 84-68, Sunday afternoon. Germany for their part, was massacred by Australia’s Perth Wildcats, 99-36, and bowed to Chinese Taipei-Blue team, 86-60. The Germans, who are composed of young cagers from their International Basketball Academy (IBA), are playing South Korea at press time.

The Philippine team composed mainly of inexperienced amateurs and coached by Dong Vergeire, is reinforced by two Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players in Marc Pingris and Omanzie Rodriguez in this week long tournament that has attracted nine teams from eight nations.
