The two-day competition formally started yesterday with PNP chief director general Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. and Marikina City Mayor Marides Fernando as guests in the opening ceremony.
The 42 shooters represented the police agencies of eight member countries of the ASEANAPOL will compete in the individual and team categories.
"The PNP is proud to host the first ASEANAPOL shootfest with our foreign counterparts from national police agencies in the ASEAN region. This is our way of fostering camaraderie, fellowship and cooperation with our ASEAN neighbors in addressing our common concerns of transnational crime and terrorism," PNP spokesman chief supt. Joel Goltiao said.
Ebdane, is skipper of the PNP team. His teammates include sr. supt. Benjamin Belarmino, sr. supt. Antonio Baraquiel, chief insp. Alex Sintin, and SPO1 Anthony Sy.
Foreign teams competing are the Royal Thai Police, Indonesian National Police, Royal Malaysia Police, Myanmar Police Force, Cambodian National Police, Lao Peoples Democratic Republic General Department of Police; and Socialist Republic of Vietnam Police.
