4 bets show way in World Slasher final

Four entries posted perfect scores of four points to lead 38 others in the grueling four-cock finals of the World Slasher Cup International eight-cock derby slated tonight at the Araneta Coliseum.

Honey Yu with Louie Cua of CCL Honey Binangonan; Sonny Lagon’s Blue Blade San Pablo entry, the troika of Ruel Ricafort, Edgar Santos and Boy Ledesma and its RT 114 Victory RT 223 bet, and CPB Farm Binangonan entry of last year’s champion Claude Bautista lorded it over the big field in the two-stage elims of the event sponsored by Univet Thunderbird Feeds and the Journal Group of Companies.

Also advancing to the finals with three points are Frank Berin (Mulawin); Mauro Prieto (Anito M & M); and Jet Fernando (Jima Fer Mapalad-II); Rey Briones (Islander RB); Dicky Lim and Max Roxas (Winslet Paniqui); Alex Tang (Silver Buck); Edwin Bacud with the Ampil brothers (Air Assault NGBA); Tony Tan (Swing MG/PM/EC-I); Danding Cojuangco and Ito Ynares (Binangonan Balbina); William Go (Liberty Gold Cup-CHJJE-II) and Tos Reyes (Old Time Nevada).

The event, hosted by Jun Santiago, Nene Araneta, and Ito Ynares, will also decide the winner of the Araneta Coliseum-National Cockers Association (NCA) Cocker of the Year (COTY) derby with Rudy Albano’s entry Mulawin A Jima Fer and the PEBR Firefly entry of Pol Estrellado and Boy Royo in a teamup with Boy Ledesma disputing the top honors with three points.

Albano, Estrellado and Royo can also pull off a rare feat, winning not only the COTY award, but also the World Slasher Cup.
