In a memorandum signed by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ma. Luisa Quiñones to all principals and supervisors of the 130 public and private schools all over the city, student athletes participating in the MY Games will be excused from their classes during the week-long multi-event competition.
"Through the MY Games, we hope that we are fulfilling our contribution to the national sports development agenda while providing Manilas youth a wholesome endeavor that will help mold them as assets of society," said Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.
"In line with our Buhayin ang Maynila program, the city government has promoted a sports development thrust for the youth in the firm belief that physical fitness is a vital part of education," the Mayor added.
Even the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the oldest collegiate league in the country, has committed the participation of its junior athletes from Manila in the event, which has also gained the backing of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Pagcor.
