Sy, Ramirez face toughrivals in PCSO Grand Prix

-
ROSARIO, BATANGAS–Young Tyson Sy and veteran Kookie Ramirez gun for their second straight win against tough rivals in their respective divisions as the 2004 PCSO Grand Prix stages its second leg this weekend at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Sy proved himself as the next Filipino racing superstar with his impressive debut winning both the Promotional class of the Asian Formula 3 and the Formula Toyota Cup.

But this weekend, Sy expects rough sailing against two equally talented lady drivers–Gaby de la Merced and Michelle Bumgarner–in the Formula Toyota Cup sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office through chairman Livia "Honeygirl" de Leon, Pilipinas Shell Corporation, Toyota Motors Philippines, Norkis Yamaha, Kilton Motors, and MOF Company.

Joining the pack are Ivan Carapiet and Maico Angeles.

Ramirez, on the other hand, hopes to deliver another big win for Petron Ultron as he tackles Ferdie Ong of Bosch-Polo, teammate Miguel Ramirez and Dominic Bon in the National Touring Car Championship series also supported by Yokohama, Standard Insurance, MacNell Architectural Paints, NU 107, Dunkin Donuts and Alaska.

Among the other favorites are Philip Alvendia, Oscar Aguilar and Nilo Pazcoguin of Caltex Havoline and defending champion Carlos Anton of Red Horse-Gulf Oil-MP Turbo who failed to see action in the kickoff leg due to engine problems.

Eyeing to get their share of the limelight are Rey Reyes of AF3 Auto Klasse, Miguel Lazaro and newcomer Renan Morales.

Reyes seeks a repeat of his triumph in the Class B division against Alvin Dayrit and Reggie Ramos.
