Two BMW cars at stake in Belle Cup

Drive home with a brand new — not one but two — BMW sports car or make your vacation in the US a dream come true with roundtrip tickets for two courtesy of Northwest Airlines.

These are two of the major prizes for winners and participants in the fifth edition of the Belle Cup two-man golf tournament set May 21-22 at the Tagaytay Highlands and Midlands golf clubs.

The PGA Cars, one of the major sponsors in this unique three-in-one tournament, has put up two latest BMW units as hole-in-one prizes in this club’s biggest annual golf event held in conjunction with the year-long celebration Highlands 10th anniversary.

"We would like to express our gratitude to PGA Cars management as well as to other sponsors who make this year’s event a truly memorable one," said Willy Ocier, vice chairman of the organizing Belle Corp., developer of the two golf courses.

"We would also like to extend our thanks to our members for their continous support over the past 10 years."

As expected, late entries beat the deadline for the submission of participation Saturday afternoon, but only the first 150 teams were allowed by the organizers to play in the two-day event with PGA Cars, Northwest Airlines, Powell Chemicals, Kart Plaza and Wendenberg International and SM Prime as major sponsors.

Minor sponsors are Perfect Smile, International Exchange Bank, Time Depot, Wilson Sports, Fly Ace, Lacoste and Oakley.

The format will be a two-man Stableford using the full handicaps of the players — a club member or dependent paired with a non-pro playing partner. The whole field will be divided into two groups with one group playing at the highlands and the other at Midlands.

The two groups will switch courses on the final day with the team whichl tops in the two venues adjudged club champion, and the team which has the lowest aggregate after two days winning the coveted Belle Cup.

"As early as March, the grounds crew have been working to ensure that championship conditions will be achieved come tournament day," said club manager Nick Celdran.
