Starting in the second Philippine Basketball League (PBL) Unity Cup, players who couldnt land a job in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) might just have an equally difficult time finding one in the amateur league.
This after chairman Dioceldo Sy of Blustar Detergent yesterday announced that the league is set to implement a new rule allowing ballclubs to tap only one player each from the pro-ranks.
"Tama na rin siguro tong bagong ruling na ito kasi bukod sa bawas sa gastos, mabibigyan pa ng chance ang mga batang players," Sy said.
Sy explained that the new rule is part of the leagues plan to develop more promising players from the collegiate ranks particularly in the provinces were talent is aplenty.
The chairman, however, clarified that ex-pros who have played in the 2003 PBL Platinum Cup and conferences previous to it are exempted from the new ruling. Joey Villar
