Summit Point rolls out red carpet for Trent Jones

A grand welcome for Robert Trent Jones Jr. is in the offing as Summit Point Golf and Residential Estate in Lipa City, Batangas marks the return of the renowned course architect to the country with a fellowship tournament among VIPs and celebrities led by former President Fidel V. Ramos today.

The event teeing off at 9 a.m. will put on focus the first nine completed holes of Summit Point, which is actually its back nine with work on the other nine expected to be completed before the year ends.

Summit Point, a joint venture project of Sta. Realty and Development, Inc. and Summit Point Realty Corp., is the sixth golf course project in the Philippines of Trent Jones who has carved out another masterpiece on a very natural setting he fondly calls "a mini-mountain".

"Summit Point sits on a naturally beautiful piece of property with such a dramatic site," said Trent Jones Jr.

Joining the designer in the fellowship tourney are top officials of Summit Point Realty headed by Conrad Leviste and son Robbie and Sta. Lucia Realty’s Exequiel Robles (president & CEO), Vicente Santos (executive vice president) and Winifred Gob (project director).

About 60 special guests will have the chance to play together with Trent Jones Jr. in one of his best creations thus far.

What should make Summit Point different from the present courses is its unique design concept wherein each hole gets an inspiration from famous holes of courses all over the world, Gob said.

Summit Point’s breathtaking finishing hole, for instance, has a striking resemblance with the 12th hole of Sotogrande (Spain). Summit Point’s No. 18 is such a beauty with a huge body of water on the right and dotted with bunkers from the fairway all the way to the green, he said.

No. 12 is inspired by the first hole of Spanish Bay (Pebble Beach, California), the 10th of Pebble Beach for the 16th and the 16th of Carnoustie (Scotland) for the 17th.

The Summit Point project covers 220 hectares of land and is 1,100 feet above sea level. The cool climate guarantees lush greenery and vegetation in the sprawling real estate development.
