Jayvie joins ladies side in DHL amateur

-
Top jungolfer Jayvie Agojo joined the hunt for the crown in the ladies side of the DHL-NGAP Amateur Open Golf Championships, further adding luster to the keenly-awaited event firing off Jan. 28 at the north course of the Canlubang golf complex in Laguna.

Agojo, one of the three jungolfers cited by the Philippine Sportswriters Association for their international exploits in 2003, will thus be ranged against the likes of former RP Ladies Open champion Carmelette Villaroman, veteran campaigners Lora Roberto and Lucy Landicho and club bet Lina de Guzman in the 54-hole tournament sponsored by DHL Express and brought by WWW Express.

But focus will also be on the 72-hole men’s tournament, set to unfold Jan. 27, with Juvic Pagunsan heading a talent-laden field that includes defending champion Abe Rosal, former nationalist titlist Artemio Murakami and fellow national team mainstays Marvin Dumandan, Paul Miñoza, Boyet Saragoza and Jay Bayron.

DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, is sponsoring the event for the ninth year.

Deadline for registration is at 12 noon on Jan. 24. Entry fee is pegged at P2,500 for men and P2,000 for ladies.

For details, call up NGAP office at tel. Nos. 525-6987 and 524-5160 or fax 521-1587 and Cangolf at (049) 5491363. The practice round is set Jan. 26.
