With no takers, Arigo stays with Alaska

After testing the open market and finding no takers, John Arigo is left with no other option but ink a new contract with Alaska.
A source close to Arigo yesterday said the 6-foot-3 Fil-American has finally accepted the Alaska offer of P12.6 million for three years. The contract will be signed this week.
Arigo, who barged into the PBA three years ago, has made a name for himself as Alaskas newest go-to guy, but has reportedly developed some grudge with coach Tim Cone.
The source, however, said everything is well between Cone and Arigo, and that they are both looking forward to the new season which unfolds with the Fiesta Conference next month.
After his three-year contract expired before the end of 2003, Arigo received a fresh maximum offer of P12.6 million from the Milkmen.
But instead of putting his name on the dotted line, the lanky, clean-shaven Arigo apparently said he wanted out.
"Is this the time I can start talking to other teams?" he told Alaska management.
He was given that chance.
For almost a week, the source said the gum-chewing wingman approach San Miguel Beer, Talk N Text, Purefoods and Ginebra, but could not find any takers.
The "prodigal son" is now back with Alaska.
