Ateneo booters topple San Beda, enter semis

Defending champion Ateneo clobbered San Beda, 11-2, last Sunday to gain the semifinals of the Metro Manila Coke Go-for-Goal under-16 football tournament at the De La Salle Zobel field in Ayala Alabang.
Former three-time national titlist DLSZ, Southridge and Xavier also pulverized their respective rivals to join Ateneo in the semifinals.
The DLSZ boys whipped Claret, 12-1; Southridge ripped La Salle Greenhills, 9-2; and Xavier blanked Colegio San Agustin, 5-0.
Semifinal action unfurls on Nov. 9 with DLSZ facing Xavier and Ateneo meeting Southridge at the Ateneo field.
Meanwhile, Sampaloc High crushed Munting Dilaw, 5-0, to lead winners in the Rizal provincial Coke Go-for-Goal eliminations.
In other games, Gen. Licerio Memorial National High beat Kasiglahan, 4-0; Montalban Heights topped Macabud, 3-0; San Jose (Main) shut out San Isidro High, 2-0; Burgos High blanked Gulod Malaya High, 2-0; Guinayang High spilled Macabud High, 2-0; San Jose (Annex) battled Roosevelt College System to a scoreless draw.
