Agra, Amoranto set title duel in Futures tennis

Girls 16-under No. 1 Jessica Agra downed No. 3 Julie Em Botor, 6-0, 6-3, while No. 4 Trudy Amoranto rallied past Michelle Pang, 6-0, 0-6, 6-3, yesterday to forge a title showdown in the Futures Foundation Age-Group Tennis Cup at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
Agra and Amoranto will also dispute the 14-under title. Agra won by default over Zhane Quitara while Amoranto defeated Irina Quinatadcan, 6-2, 6-0.
Playing in the 12-under finals were No. 4 Joan Opulencia, who stunned No. 2 Jia Elesis, 6-4, 6-1, and No. 1 Sarah Jane Lim, who defeated third seed Zhane Quitara, 7-5, 6-3.
In the boys 16-under class, fifth seed Russell Arcilla Jr. scored a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 upset win over No. 4 Pablo Olivarez II to join No. 1 Christian Canlas, No. 2 Ralph Darte and No. 3 Daniel Luis Macalino in the semifinals of this event supported by TMS Shipping and Dunlop balls.
Boys 12-under No. 2 Akio Sy downed No. 4 Edwin Olivarez, 6-4, 6-3, to advance in the final against No.3 Joseph Baldonado, who won by default over No. 1 Patrick Arevalo.
Winners in the unisex 10-under class were No. 2 Potchie Macalino over JV Custodio, 6-4, 6-4, No. 3 Alberto Villamor over Kyle Cordero 6-3, 6-4, and Noel Agra over Ino Canlas, 6-0, 6-0.
