Alaska finds ace in new import

Isaac Fontaine dished out a splendid game practically straight from the airport and Alaska Milk snapped a three-game skid in the Samsung PBA Reinforced Conference with a 97-91 win over Purefoods last night at the Philsport Arena.

With hardly a rest from his trip from the US, Fontaine played for 45 minutes and delivered 38 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists in an amazing performance for the Aces.

The Coca-Cola Tigers responded well under interim coach Biboy Ravanes and kept their unblemished record with an 82-75 whipping of the winless San Miguel Beermen in the nightcap.

"I’m surprised he’s still standing," said Alaska coach Tim Cone of his new import after the game. "For a first day and all the adversities he’d gone through, it seems to be a good indication of where we can go."

Alaska posted its first win in four games and dealt Purefoods which ended a 12-game losing streak with a 78-77 squeaker over SMB, another loss. The Aces tied the Hotdogs at 1-3.
