Efren "Bata" Reyes and Francisco "Django" Bustamante pulled off victories in smashing fashion in race-to-10 duels to reach the Last 16 in the Second Annual Gabriels Las Vegas 9-ball Open at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada Wednesday.
Reyes, who lost to Charlie Williams in the finals of the Big Apple 9-ball Challenge last week, ripped Bill Ferguson, 10-5, then whipped Mike Devino, 10-3, to arrange a Last 16 match with American Frankie Hernandez.
Bustamante, winner of the International Challenge to Champions two weeks ago, thumped Danny Medina, 10-5, then outlasted Corey Harper, 10-8, to set up a clash with New Yorker Tony Robles in the other bracket.
